About Us :

Flat –Sheet Membranes Group and Spiral wound module Fabrication Flat sheet membranes Group (FSMG) was founded in November 2014 under the leadership of Vice President of the National Research Center Prof. Dr. Ahmed Shaban. He leads the group to exhibit their products of different kinds of membranes in 1st Cairo international exhibition of innovation, 2014 in American University in Cairo and 5thCairo international exhibition of innovation, 2018.The (FSMG) has participated in many conferences and workshops such as the ARWADEX international conference for water desalination in Arab countries and the Water Nexus conference in Italy. The team work of Flat Sheet Membranes Group (FSMG) from different departments in NRC such as Chemical Engineering and Pilot Plant, Water pollution, and Polymers. The team work participated in many projects. The most important projects are:

  1. “Production of Reverse Osmosis Membranes for Water Desalination” which was granted by STDF.
  2. “Development of integrated membranes systems for improving water quality to reach standards of cell and molecular biology applications”, which was Among the Eleventh Plan of NRC.
  3. The team group also, working in Italian project in title “Application which was granted by STDF.
  4. Egyptian –Indian project “Nano materials- RO antifouling membrane formulations for water desalination” It was funded by the Egyptian academy of science with the Indian government.
  5. “Production of High Cash Vegetables Crops and High Grade Table Salt via Reverse Osmosis Desalinated Water” which was funded through NRC strategy for Sinai development.
  6. Other recent trend in the group was production of forward osmosis membranes, “Investigation and Optimization of Recent Types of Draw Solutes for Different Forward Osmosis Membrane Process Applications”.
  7. “Process Design and Optimization of hybrid forward and reverse osmosis process for water desalination” as a new combination between FO and RO membrane systems was also funded by STDF.
  8. “Development and technical evaluation of conducting polymers/inorganic nano composite membranes for fuel cells Applications”. A project for the modification of fuel cell membranes.
  9. “Production of Reverse Osmosis Spiral Wound Membranes enhanced by fabric support” granted by STDF, 2018-2021.
  10. “Low-cost Polymeric Membrane and Application Technologies for Desalination and Waste Water Treatment”, Egypt-China grant project granted by STDF, 2018-2021.
