The 2nd International Conference for Membranes Technology and its Applications (MTAIC)

The Goal of The Conference

The second conference for membrane technology and its applications aims to clarify the role of membranes in important applications such as wastewater treatment, agricultural and industrial wastewater such as pharmaceutical, textile and ceramic industries, as well as the role of membranes in desalination of sea water and the role of membranes in industrial applications to produce products such as gas separation, pharmaceutical industries , Petroleum and food industries.

Membrane applications are based on the required technology. For example, in water treatment and desalination, membranes such as Spiral wound modules and hollow membranes are used in the treatment of industrial wastewater and agricultural drainage, as well as Tertiary treatment of wastewater and seawater desalination.

Also, the Integrated membranes Technology using different membranes such as the forward osmosis membranes and ultrafiltration to oily waste water from petroleum refineries and the water extracted from the drilling of wells, as well as the reduction of salinity using the Hybrid membranes technology of forward osmosis and Reverse osmosis or nanofiltration can reduce the brine salinity which can reach to the suitable salinity of the seawater, so it can recycled back to the sea in accordance with environmental conditions.

The membranes also can be used for the pharmaceutical and chemical industries. membranes are involved in the production of some medicines and some chemicals.

Membranes are used in food industries where they are used in the concentration of juices and in the production of taste additives.

Membranes are used to separate different gases such as hydrogen, carbon dioxide and methane and therefore have a significant role in industries based on these gases.

Fertilizer industries can use also membranes for wastewater treatment and some materials that are used in fertilizers can be used as a source for draw solutes for forward osmosis membrane technology.

Membranes are also used in biofuel cells and therefore have an important role in fuel efficiency of these cells.

A group of foreign experts will also share their expertise in membrane production and technological applications
